This event is free and open to the public. Registration is required, and you must check in at the registration table to be admitted. Please register here.
Space is limited. Please plan to arrive early.
Thursday, April 16, 4:00 pm
The symposium will also see the launch of an exhibit and book on Kumbh Mela: Mapping the Ephemeral Megacity, SAI’s flagship multiyear, multi-school research project on the world’s largest religious festival that occurs every twelve years, lasts 55 days, and draws millions of visitors to a temporary, purpose-built tent city on the banks of the Ganges and Yamuna. Research from this project touches upcoming interdisciplinary issues across a number of complementary fields – urban studies and design, religious and cultural studies, environmental science and public health, and business and technology.
