Internship Grants

Internship grants are awarded to students who choose to work with specific organizations on a project developed by either the organization or in collaboration with the internship-site. Students can either work with an organization of their choice or choose from the SAI partner organizations for internship opportunities. Preference is given to SAI partnered organizations. Summer internships should be a minimum 8 weeks. Winter Session internships should be a minimum of 3 weeks.

Deadlines

Winter Session: October 15, 2016
Winter Session Grant Recipient Notification: November 20th, 2015

Summer 2016: February 15, 2017
Summer Grant Recipient Notification: Mid-March 2017

Eligibility

Enrolled graduate and undergraduate student at Harvard University

Undergraduate Internship Grant Application:

Please note that undergraduates who are applying to an SAI internship partner should not also apply to OCS. Undergraduates applying to an internship site that is not an SAI partner or an organization that requires a tuition payment should apply only to OCS for funding. All application materials should be uploaded and submitted via CARAT

  • Completed CARAT South Asia Institute Undergraduate Internship Grant
  • Letter of acceptance from an in-region organization detailing the terms of your internship (must include name of the organization, supervisor information, dates of proposed internship)
  • 750 word proposal detailing your rationale for pursuing this project
  • Current one-page resume
  • Current transcript (unofficial printout is okay)
  • Two letters of recommendation (Your recommenders may upload their letter directly to the CARAT system or email them to diananguyen@fas.harvard.edu  )

Graduate Internship Grant Application:

All application materials should be uploaded and submitted via CARAT

  • Completed CARAT South Asia Institute Internship Grant
  • 750-word proposal outlining your rationale for pursuing this project
  • Letter of acceptance from an in-region organization detailing the terms of your internship (must include name of the organization, supervisor information, dates of proposed internship)
  • A current resume/CV
  • Current transcript (unofficial is okay)
  • Two letters of recommendation (Your recommenders may upload their letter directly to the CARAT system or email them to diananguyen@fas.harvard.edu)
