Drishtee envisions a world where all communities are empowered to achieve shared prosperity. The organization collaborates with marginalized communities to develop and nurture rural enterprises and support the community eco-system.
Drishtee is a social enterprise focused on rural India and its entrepreneurs, through whom it reaches out to the marginalized communities. It creates sustainable models that enable the generation of livelihoods and costs savings for rural citizens. Over the years, Drishtee has facilitated and supported a network of over 14,000 rural enterprises to cater to the critical needs of marginalized communities.
Drishtee has so far tested, piloted, and scaled up micro-enterprises in the fields of education, microfinance, FMCG retail, financial inclusion, and health. It aims to develop future scalable microenterprises in agriculture, energy, rural production, and construction, apart from scaling up its existing models. Drishtee aims to develop an internal model of sustainability that can be customized and offered to communities.
Currently, Drishtee has a strong presence in three Indian states: Assam, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Drishtee has also been fortunate in the support and work it has received from several partners. Notable amongst these have been the Acumen Fund, Microsoft, Halloran Philanthropies, IBM, Novartis, Merck, Pfizer, Nestle, the Nike Foundation, Philips, the State Bank of India, Ashoka, the Clinton Global Initiative, the World Bank, the Ministry of Rural Development, the Government of Bihar, Shell Foundation, the Japan Research Institute, and many others. The biggest supporters of Drishtee remain its entrepreneurs and the communities where it works, including its volunteers and interns from across the globe.
This opportunity is open to both undergraduate and graduate students. Hindi-speaking candidates are preferred. Strong candidates will possess solid communications skills and a determined resolve to make a positive social impact.
The Community Organizer will be required to conduct a village stay and to act as a pro-bono consultant to the local community.
Drishtee is able to offer a stipend of Rs. 5000 to help offset the cost of living in Noida.
