Anisha Gopi

ANISHAAnisha Gopi, Project Manager, Social Entrepreneurship and Livelihood Creation in India Project

Anisha Gopi is a human rights lawyer with expertise in the areas of gender-based violence and access to justice.

She is currently a Project Manager at the Harvard University South Asia Institute for the Project on ‘Social Entrepreneurship and Livelihood Creation in India.’ The Project focuses on women’s empowerment and strengthening women’s contribution to India’s growth through capacity building and sustained interventions on educational, social and economic levels.

Prior to this she was a Visiting Researcher at the Harvard Law School (HLS), and a Research and Advocacy Associate at the HLS Gender Violence Program where she assisted in teaching workshops on gender based violence and legal policy, co-authored policy recommendations and campus climate surveys, organized conferences and worked on campaigns on campus sexual assault and the use of GPS monitoring in high risk domestic violence cases.

She has previously worked with the Centre for Women and Law at the National Law School of India University, Bangalore where she developed and implemented training programs for young legal professionals to become effective human rights advocates. She was also a part Dispute Resolution and Arbitration Team of Amarchand Mangaldas, a law firm in Mumbai and worked with the women’s rights and advocacy organization Majlis.

Anisha is an Associate Fellow at the Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy, a Trustee of Shankaraa Foundation and Legal and Policy advisor to the Cynthia L. Bischof Memorial Foundation.

She completed her BA-LLB (Hons) from the National Law School of India University, Bangalore and an LLM in International Law, Gender and Human Rights from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Massachusetts.
